I've had dogs my whole life but my affiliation with Large Munsterlanders started with a chance encounter at Crufts Discover Dogs in 2004, where by I was instantly enthralled by this strikingly beautiful breed.
Having owned farm bred collies and springer spaniels previously I enjoy an active breed, in particular gundogs, so the munsterlander seemed like the perfect fit for our household.
My first Munsterlander, Kaia, arrived in 2007, followed by Loki in 2008 and finally Keiko in 2014. Find out more about them on their dedicated pages.
The dogs join a host of other animals here including cats, parrots, geckos, guinea pigs and aviary birds who all live harmoniously together here in Birmingham.
I also share my time with my horse Kasper, a big 16.2h hunter type buckskin, who will try his hoof at anything from mounted games, to showjumping, eventing and more.
Working in a secondary school science department I have a keen interest in both science fact and science fiction, and choose my kennel name Darkensky as a nod to all things 'space adventure' that I have enjoyed since my youth.
